Depression Can Be Lonely
  • Depression Can Be Lonely
    Illustration Project
  • As a student in 2010, I was handed images of 3 objects: A plug, a brickwall and a window. We were told to take these random, lifeless objects and create an illustration project based upon them. I decided my concept would be based around the subject of depression, an area which is still often quite a taboo topic to discuss openly in the public domain. I thought it would be great to use these everyday objects and give them a new meaning. My three characters suffer different symptoms of depression: Feeling like your head is a chimney about to explode and the weight on your shoulders; Feeling like you just can't 'switch yourself on' and as though the light has gone out; feeling like no-one is able to understand how you feel and 'see into your heart & soul.
