Fabric Illustrations for Ivy & Matilda
In collaboration with Australian bridal fashion brand Ivy & Matilda, I designed a series of fabric prints for a collection of silk robes aimed at the Australian bridal market.
Beginning with sketches I produced 3 designs in repeat-pattern for digital printing on silk, each in 2 colour-ways- one for the bride and one for her bridesmaids.
I chose big, fluffy peonies for the 'Pretty Peonies' print as I knew this continues to be a very popular choice of flowers for spring brides. Incorporating feathers and freesias into the design, the print is soft, romantic and feminine.
The 'Australian Romance' was designed with the modern day Australian bride in mind. At the time, the use of Australian natives in wedding flowers was on the rise, so I wanted to produce illustrations that incorporated Warratah blooms, Geraldton Wax and Eucalyptus leaves into the mix.
To complement the oriental silk being used in the collection, 'Monet's Garden' was inspired by my interest in Claude Monet and the french impressionist painter's love affair with Japanese art. The design has a french chinoiserie feel to it, featuring butterflies dancing among over-sized chrysanthemums.
